With over 28 years of collective experience in practical effects and special effects makeup for film, television, and the theatrical industry, Oracle FX Ltd is a renowned studio led by Emmy-nominated special effects makeup artist Max Payn and industry veteran Thea Mulvey. Together, Max and Thea bring nearly three decades of expertise to every project, creating unforgettable practical effects that captivate audiences worldwide.
Our Journey
Both Max and Thea graduated from UAL universities, with Max attending London College of Fashion and Thea studying at Central Saint Martins. Their paths converged when they worked together at Robert Allsopp & Associates, where Max served as a senior staff member for 12 years. During their tenure, they contributed to numerous theatrical productions for esteemed venues such as The National Theatre, The Royal Opera House, and the London Palladium, including iconic shows like "Wicked" and "The Nutcracker," and even earned recognition in American Vogue.
Professional Milestones
As established practical effects freelancers, Max and Thea have collaborated on a wide array of projects, creating prosthetics for acclaimed actors such as Mark Lewis Jones, Chris Fairbank, Tom Hollander, Imogen Poots, and Saoirse Ronan. Their extensive filmography includes renowned productions such as "Outlander," "Silent Witness," "The King's Man," "Men in Black: International," and "Bodies" for Animated Extras International, as well as recent endeavours like "True Detective" and "Beekeeper" for Igor Studios in 2023.
Further Achievements
They've also contributed their talents to major feature films and series, including Universal Studios' "Jurassic World Dominion," "Carnival Row 2" under the direction of Nick Dudman, and "Captain Marvel" for Altered States FX.
